Please welcome our new AVHS AdviseAZ Mentor... AVHS graduate and current University of Arizona student, Adary Laborin!
"Hello, my name is Adary Laborin, and I am a second-year college student at the University of Arizona. I'm majoring in Digital Journalism with a minor in marketing. I love learning new things and helping others. I am a 2019 graduate from Alta Vista High School, returning to be a part of the AVHS staff team! The support I received from being an AVHS student helped me establish and accomplish my dreams, and I'd like to do my part and provide that for others!"
WE ARE READY! We will be implementing a new hybrid approach to learning, in four different phases. Please check our Bell Schedule, Calendar, and Covid Update pages for better understanding, as we continue preparing for the start of school!
Limited onsite support and supervision services available starting August 17, 2020 (Students who use on-site support and supervision services will not be participating in regular, in-person, teacher-led instruction while the school is in distance learning.)
WELCOME TO OUR NEW FRONT OFFICE STAFF!
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT: Miss Rebecca Alvarez (no relation to our principal, Mrs. Alvarez!) is excited and ready to be joining the AVHS staff. Miss Alvarez is a proud alum of both AVHS (class of 2014) and the University of Arizona, where she graduated with a bachelors in Care, Health, and Society Sciences, with minors in business and Spanish. Her college experience helped her realize her commitment to making a positive impact in the community. In her spare time, Miss Alvarez volunteers with her church’s organization youth groups, helping them organize events.
"I have a deep passion for singing that has helped me to stay grounded in the odd times we are living in. I look forward to a great year and am grateful to share it with my AVHS family!"
ASSISTANT SCHOOL LEADER: Gabriel Galindo, a native of Nogales, Arizona, holds a BS in Business with a concentration in Management, an MEd in Educational Leadership, and is currently working on his Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. Prior to coming to work at Alta Vista, he worked in higher education for almost seven years, starting off as an Academic/Career Advisor, then transitioning to Director roles where he was involved with academics, operations, HR, facilities, K-12 STEM outreach, workforce development, and continuing education. He also had the pleasure of teaching courses in computer information systems, college/career readiness, business, and psychology. Recently he was the NISOD Excellence Award recipient and is very proud to be able to have been able to represent his community.
"I am very proud of where I come from and will do what I can to serve my people. Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today!"
