Electronic Device Policy
Students are permitted to bring personal stereos, CD or MP3 players, cell phones, and electronic games to school for use when class is not in session. These and other electronic devices may never be used in class or during class time and are to be turned off and out of view at all times while class is in session (including in the courtyard and bathrooms). Students caught violating this policy will have the device confiscated. On the first offense, the device will be confiscated and given to a school administrator. The device will only be returned to a parent or guardian. Students who violate this policy a second time will have their device confiscated and it will be held by a school administrator until the end of the school year. Each additional infraction will result in the device being confiscated and held by a school administrator until the end of the school year. Alta Vista High School assumes no responsibility for any item lost or stolen while on campus or at a school sponsored event and strongly discourages students from bringing such items to school unless they are absolutely necessary. AVHS administration has the right to view text messages and call logs if there is reason to suspect a safety threat of any kind.
