National Honor Society
Alta Vista High School proudly sponsors a national, elite organization. The National Honor Society (NHS) Alta Vista chapter was founded in February of 2008. Since then, the chapter has inducted over 50 students. The students have contributed to the local community through tutoring at Quincy Douglas Library, adopting Desert Shadow's Park, health challenges, blood drives through United Blood Services, a recycling program, and raising funds/goods for the Susan G. Komen foundation, Ronald McDonald House, Food Bank and Casa de los Ninos.
This year, NHS proudly inducted 12 students into our chapter for the 2010-2011 school year.
For a student to be able to participate in NHS, he or she must achieve a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, have a clean behavior record, complete 20 hours of community service per block, and be in grades 10,11 or 12. Students who are eligible will receive a bid, which must be accepted by the student if they wish to participate. View the videos below to see previous NHS activities.
