AVHS Student SpotlightEl Tour de Tucson Gold Medalist![]() Israel Romero
On November 19th about 11,000 bicyclists took part in the 29th Anniversary of El Tour De Tucson. One of those bicyclists is a student here at Alta Vista, Israel Romero. Israel received a Gold medal by clearing 111 miles in 5 hours and 52 minutes. Israels determination and work ethic is not only shown as a bicyclist but also as student leader on the AVHS campus. Israel is in the top 15% of his class and is also the President of the National Honor Society Alta Vista High School chapter. Congratulation!! We are happy to have such an outstanding student at Alta Vista.
Students Stand Out at Entrepreneurship Program

Three students from Alta Vista High school attended BizFest which is a four day entrepreneurship program equipping youth, with the tools to be successful in both business and life. In the competition portion Alta Vista student, Brenda Haro Won 1st place and Tairi Miranda Won 3rd place out of over 30 students from all over Tucson. These students are examples of great AVHS students. Brenda and Islas are Juniors that are graduating this May and all three are in the top 10% of there class. Congratulations and we hope to see many more students reaching amazing goals.

December: Mrs. Nunez
This is Mrs. Nunez second year at Alta Vista High School. She has a bachelor’s degree in English, minor in Spanish. She also has a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education. On top of being a full time teacher she volunteers as a Co adviser for Student Council. Mrs. Nunez is a pleasure to work with and always lifts the spirits of everyone at Alta Vista High School.
November: Mr. Martinez
Mr. Martinez had been with Alta Vista High School for 5 years. He graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelors in Secondary Education in Spanish ( Minor: Bilingual Education). He also holds a Masters degree in Second Language Reading/ Culture/ Language Specialist. He is a Full Time teacher, the Director of Athletics, and the Soccer Varsity Coach at Alta Vista. October: Mrs. Siner
This is Mrs. Siners 1st year at Alta Vista. She is the advisor for the Yearbook club. She has obtained a Masters degree in Information Resources and Library Science.
September: Ms. Dupre
This is Ms. Dupres' 3rd year of teaching here at Alta Vista. She was the head coach of the Girls’ Soccer team for the last two years and Assistant Coach for the Boys’ Soccer team last year. This year she is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in European History. She has a BA in History Education and is also highly certified to teach Economics. Ms. Dupre is head of the Social Studies department and is also a Co adviser for Student Council this year. |
